The entire working career of Vladislav Ochodek is connected with the Technical University of Ostrava, Department of Mechanical Technology and Section of Welding . He is a graduate of the university where he first worked as a research worker and subsequently to present as an academic staff.

He is the author or co-author of more than 140 papers published in domestic and foreign journals and conferences. Author of 3 university scripts, one book. He was a researcher and co- researcher of a number of national and international grants (GA CR r.no. 106/98/0834, CEZ: J17/98:27300010 and CEZ: J17/98:27230011, MPO FT-TA3/004, OP VK CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0038.).

He is a member of AWS, expert of the CS ANB, expert of the maintenance group of ORLEN Unipetrol RPA s.r.o. In the framework of research activities, he has been cooperating with a number of industrial companies in the field of energy and automotive industries both:  Vítkovice a.s., RWE Transgas, UAM Brno s.r.o., Arcelor Mitall Czech a.s., ČEZ a.s., Skoda auto a.s., Hyundai Czech s.r.o., Hella Autotechnik Nova s.r.o., Maxion Wheels Czech s.r.o., ORLEN Unipetrol RPA s.r.o. and others.

His main areas of interest are: weldability evaluation of materials, design and optimization of welding technologies, analysis of residual stresses after welding and other production technologies, the effect of welding on material degradation, monitoring of welding technologies, numerical simulations welding, thermal spraying (FS, AS, PS, HVOF).
